original line-up in 1991 left to right:
Toby Wulff (v/b), Marc Davis (g), Duane Morris (g), Roy Stewart (d)

EMBALMER was formed in August of 1990, as the first death metal band out of Cleveland, Ohio. The line-up is: Toby Wulff (bass, vox) Roy Stewart (drums) Marc Davis (guitar) and Duane Morris (guitar). They consider their music to be grinding gore death metal, with song topics influenced by the grim side of life, and of course... DEATH, HORROR/SPLATTER films, and many other gruesome gore filled buckets of bile. They feel like their riffs and music have an origional sound, unlike any others, it reveals a true orchestrated darkness, guillotine execution, and brutality of the disturbed, to its most gory potential.
Their first demo entitled "Into The Oven" was released in the fall of 1991. It is a five song tape recorded in a 16 track studio, with song titles such as: "Into The Oven", gruesomely explaining the horror of cremating a live human specimen, "Shrunken Heads", the ancient cannibal technique of shrinking the mortal head after removal of the skull, and "Hearse Driver", influenced by the movie PHANTASM.
EMBALMBER GIVES LIFE
A
t most embalmer shows you would find an incredible stage setup that included spider webs covering the stage, a coffin with a corpse inside infront of the drumset, and skulls and stone towers on either sides of the stage. If one can imagine a scene where a metal band would play in hell with Satan as the singer, one would know what an Embalmer show is like. Embalmer has a lust for horrifying their audience.
Toby was the original vocalist and later Rick Fleming tried to copy his style. You can tell the difference on the "Into the Oven" demo and the "Rotting Remains" demo. Check this out Toby wrote a song called "The Cellar" and before him and Duane left the band. He said, you can keep the name and all the songs except "The Cellar", but those dickheads kept it anyway and check this out. Roy Stewart is now doing some bull shit blues band and now Rick Fleming is doing a project with some of the guys from Mushroomhead.

and a biography stolen from www.myspace.com/embalmerband:

EMBALMER was formed in 1989 from the remains of CORPSEGRINDER and came out puking out gore and pure brutality. The first demo, Into The Oven was released in 1991 with original bassist/vocalist Toby Wulff and guitarist Duane Morris. Toby soon left the band and was replaced by vocalist Rick Fleming. This lineup released the second demo "Rotting Remains" in 1993, which sealed their domination of the early/mid 90's Cleveland Death Metal scene. EMBALMER then recorded the now legendary "There Was Blood Everywhere" 7", which was released in 1995 by Relapse Records and then re-released on CD with the four songs from the "Rotting Remains" demo in 1997. Unfortunately, the band broke up later that year leaving much unreleased material and many disappointed fans. Now it's 2005 and EMBALMER is back, better, gorier, sicker and more brutal (not to mention bigger assholes) than ever with original drummer Roy Stewart, guitarists Duane Morris and Don Wolff, vocalist Rick Fleming and bassist Rob Lesniak. EMBALMER are finally working on putting out a new and long overdue release combining old unreleased material and some brand news songs guaranteed to peel back your fucking face.
