Cheers Joel, what's up in Delaware City today? And how do you feel actually? Joel: 666...actually I just moved to Elkton, Maryland this past week. As for here, not too much going on, just banging to some Bulldozer right now. I've bought your record last week and I couldn`t believe that "Evil Never Dies" is the hell of a Thrash Metal Record. Fast and furious and killer all the time? Are you satisfied with the record? Joel: Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm satisfied with it totally. I of course think some thing could be better, but the response has been fucking great so far. I'm working on new stuff now that will appear on an upcoming 7" on Iron Bonehead Productions. I've mentioned some of your influences in my review which I've thought that are your influences, hahaha, blablabla. But tell us by yourself, what are your in influences musically wise. What do you listen? Joel: I listen to lots of shit, mostly 80's Thrash/Speed shit, but also Black Metal and Death Metal. Bands would be: Bathory, Bulldozer, Abigail, Exciter, Slayer, Possessed, Onslaught, Tank, Motorhead, Venom, ... Delaware City. Delaware City never crosses my way in my metallandscape, so far. Also don't have a NHL Team and you also don't have a basketball team and at least you don't have a baseball team, so what the hell is the reason to live in Delaware City, hahaha? By the way tell us a little bit about the metal scene in your hometown! Joel: The name Delaware City is a joke in itself. It's actually a very samll town in the state of Delaware (the first state of the USA...big deal), The closest real city would be Philadelpia, PA (home of the sports teams like Eagles, 76'ers etc.), Now that I like in Elkton MD I'm closest to Baltimore, MD. I'm not really into the scene around here as most of it is shit bands. Toxic Holocaust is your own baby. Why do you play alone or won't anybody play with you, hahaha? Joel: I can play everything, so what's the point of listening to other peoples shitty ideas?
Joel: Thanks. I like to have anthems in certain songs. I think it makes you want to listen more if there is a cool chorus or riff. I like a lot of punk like Discharge, GBH, Exploited, Germs, Black Flag, Misfits. What's up with playing live? As a one man project very difficult, huh? Would be cool seeing you handling all three instruments at the same time, hahaha! Joel: I have done it a few times and the response was much better than I would have thought. I have two friends one plays bass, the other the drums. Live I sing and play guitar. It's not an ongoing thing, but every once and a while we'll play some TH shit. It's a lot of fun, I would like to set up a tour someday. Who did the contact to Nuclear War Now! Productions? Tell us a little bit about NWN! Prod and his owner! What is he for a guy? Do you know some of his older releases like Witches Hammer? What do you think about? Joel: I sent him a CD of my demo and he liked what he heard. Yosuke from NWN is a killer guy, and he knows a lot about obsure Metal shit. He's a true fucking diehard and the quality of his releases are consistently great! Yeah I have almost all of his older releases. I like the VON DLP the best, but his upcoming Sabbat one sounds like it will take it's place. My favourite killer on "Evil Never Dies" are "Exxecutioner", "Demise", "Warfare", "Dead to the World" (The same title is on the last Nightwish CD which you hear every day like my gay buddy Uwe, hahaha) "Atomik Destructor" "War is Hell" (CULT!!!) and at least "Damned in Fire"! What are your favourite songs on "Evil Never Dies"? Joel: Nightwish has a song called that? To be honest I don't even know who they are. My favorite would be 666 followed by Fallout. Some minutes ago I told another gay buddy from me, Thomas from Necromaniac Zine that I do an interview with you. He said very nice words to me like that I am an asshole, a wanker, idiot and other pretty stuff like that, hahaha. But I love him too, Reason for his anger was the fact that he would to an interview with you at first and now I`m the first, hahaha. Send Thomas please some nice words! Joel: Hailz Thomas! Joel: I work a shitty job, I send waterproof boots and shit for the military to use. I'm 22. My real name is Satan.
Sacrifice - Forward To Termination Joel: Well, I like "Torment in Fire" better, but this one fucking thrashes hard too! Razor - "Executioner's Song" Joel: Love this band and this album. I like "Evil Invaders" better though. Destruction - "Infernal Overkill" Joel: The best Destruction album! "Bestial Invasion"!!! Deathrow - "Satan's Gift" Joel: Cool fucking thrash shit, I think they were very overlooked. I have both versions, "Riders of Doom" and "Satan's Gift" Artillery - "Fear Of Tomorrow" Joel: I cannot find a copy of this (dub it for me..haha). I have other Artillery shit and it rules supreme. (If you haven`t a sportsteam my friend, so you now have a copy from this masterpiece, hahaha! - Marcus) And at least: Bathory - Same Joel: Masterpiece! Fucking raw and evil! One of my all time favorites. Ok Joel, what will the future bring for Toxic Holocaust? What is your goal with the "band"? Joel: Lot's more vinyl and more alcohol consumption. I don't have any goals, whatever happens happens. Why are you playing Thrash Metal in the old school vein? What means Thrash Metal to you? Joel: Because Thrash in the new vein is overpolished bullshit with no feeling. Thrash is about pure aggression.. What are the reactions by press and Thrashers worldwide about "END"? Did you get reactions till now? Are you interested about the reactions or do you give a fuck about reactions? Joel: So Far, So Good...So What? Shit has been great and it's cool that people are into it. Why should anybody buy "Evil Never Dies"? Joel: Because what else are you gonna buy?
