The Amenta is the newest brutal, bonecrushing export from down under. They have a three track MCD out, called "Mictlan" and I promise you, this is pure brutal blasting Death Metal in the vein of Nile, Malevolent Creation and Behemoth, with a top majorlike production. Join the interview I did with Keyboarder Tim. Who was so fuckin friendly to answer my question with a good dose of humor. Well done boy!!!

Hi Tim, you bloody bastard of an Australian sheep ranger! What's up in your fucked up "small" continent?

Hello, Marcus you German sausage molester. Small! Small! It's fucking huge what the fuck are you talking about. It's bigger than bloody Germany anyway.

So tell us at first a little bit about your fuckin band The Amenta! As I can remember, you don`t exist for a long time, right? So you are fresh, hungry (..drawned and quartered, huh? Hahaha)!

The Amenta crawled out of the belly of a dying god and forged forth with swords in hand to conquer the hearts and minds of metal starved heathens. This was about two years ago. On a Tuesday. In a pub. It was dark and gloomy though. (How Black Sabbath are we!). We have released a Mcd entitled "Mictlan" which is getting awesome reviews (even from your backwards country) and we have written a full length called "Ennea" which should be out next year.

How old are you fuckers? What are your normal jobs (Expect bitching around, blow jobs, shaving other gays eggs or licking the ass from your boss, as I do, hahaha!)? What are you hearing for stuff at that point of time?

The band is reasonably young, from about 21-25. We all have bizarre and evil day jobs, as engineers, printers and electricians and others. I think, after looking at your job description, that you should get a new job, it doesn't sound very pleasant. Have you tried male prostitution? No? Just a thought.

As I've heard your track "Mictlan" on a sampler (No names, no promotion for anybody!) it blows me, as I said earlier to you, not against the wall. It blows me though the wall! What an intense and brutal fast fucker. Till now, I haven't heard the rest but is the rest on "Mictlan" in the same way?

There are two other songs on the Mcd. The first, "Ennea" is just as brutal. You will undoubtedly shit your pants (again). It is faster, slower, blacker, deathier. The second song, "Nekuia" is so fucked up that you will shit yourself (third times a charm) and then smear it about the walls. It is a collage of distortion and samples of tortured metal. It is a pretty fucking extreme release. There is also a hidden song on the multimedia section of the cd but you will have to find it for yourself to hear it.

The records I've heard from Australia are not very well produced, not to say poor, expect "Mayhemic Destruction", hahaha. And yours! Your Mcd is fuckin heavy like an ass-fuck! Where did you record it and who produced it?

Our MCD was recorded and partially produced by one Lachlan Mitchell of Australian band Nazxul. We chained him to the desk and didn't feed him until he had given us the result we asked for. He still trembles every time we suggest more recording. Perhaps he is afraid of the beatings? Or maybe he wishes to protect his ears from the Extreme Metal Assault that is The Amenta? Or maybe he's just anorexic. The Amenta were also involved in the production. Quite seriously though, Lachlan was great, he allowed as ridiculous amounts of time in the studio for a low price and worked tirelessly to get us a great sounding cd. (He had better, hahahahaha)

Now I've listen the whole Mcd! So it's easier to ask serious questions. Serious? Ok, you have a lyrical concept in The Amenta, so tell us at first, what means The Amenta? What is the backround from the word "Amenta"?

Finally, some serious questions! The Amenta means "The Hidden Earth" as an Egyptian hieroglyph. We chose this because it represents the unknown and ties in with our lyrical and philosophical stance.
The lyrics from "Mictlan" are about the Aztecan underworld where the weaks must stay or as I said in my review, where posers came in. Can you tell us a little bit more about the place "Mictlan" and where do you found this word and the story about?

"Mictlan" is, as you said, the Aztecan underworld. The weak and those who died in their beds as opposed to in war populated it. Mictlan was only reached after a seven-year trek through hellish catacombs. It was not pleasant. We found references to Mictlan mainly due to our interest in the writer William Burroughs who often used Mesoamerican myths in his books. Additional research was found in various non-fiction books and the all-powerful Internet.

The lyrics from "Ennea" are about the ancient Greek word for nine and the rivers from Hades also there is another story about "Ennea". Tell us about, please?

Here, I am afraid I do not know exactly what you mean. I can tell you that Ennea is also the title for our forth-coming album and the number nine has special significance, as it is the amount of tracks on the CD.

As I can think, these are not all your songs. What can you tell us lyrically, at first, about your other songs? Songtitels, Storys from behind, you call it synopsis, etc.!

Some of the other songs are also based on ancient mythology. A track called "Geilt" is based on Celtic druidic myths, another, "Sekem", is based on Egyptian judgment rituals; "Erebus" is about Greek death rites. Also on the album are songs such as "Nihil" and "Sangre" that expound our views on religion and the retarding power of any dogmatic thought. These songs are the basis for the albums intertwining themes which basically claim that humanity is in a state of decline, both physically and mentally, and that this recline is due to the strictures placed on thought and expression by systems of dogmatic thought, for example, religion and clichéd opinions on art and music.

And musically? All in the same way like the two tracks from the Mcd? Pure blasting and crushing Death Metal?

Musically, the songs are similar in that they are extreme and dark, however we refuse to be limited by other people's opinions of what should and should not be contained in extreme metal. Rest assured that if you enjoyed the "Mictlan" Ep then you will love "Ennea" the album. It will continue our exploration of sound experiments and industrial madness.

What do you have for visions, goals with The Amenta?

The Amenta will hopefully be signed in the near future, we are currently talking to some labels, and we also wish to tour overseas as we feel that we are slightly restricted by the geographical layout of Australia where, apparently, the average person per square kilometre is one. We need a more populated and musically vibrant country in order to make our live shows worth the cost of the staging.

What can you tell us about the Metal Scene in Sidney, where do you come from? With whom do you hang over?

The metal scene in Sydney is, after a brief period of inactivity and apparent death, slowly getting back on its feet. There are some young promoters who are organising good gigs in new venues and new bands are appearing all the time. We get along very well with most of the scene and are friends with many of the bands.

Do you have a cool fanzine scene down under?

For a while, no. But now we are getting a much stronger one. Zines such as Extreme Noise and Seasons Decay have appeared that are doing strong work.

Why you've choose to play Death Metal?

We don't think we really chose Death Metal, it chose us. Some of us originally played in a black metal band that eventually became The Amenta. What attracts us to the genre however is its extremity though it must be said that repetition dulls the shock of extremity and a lot of bands are coming out that sound similar. We need more bands to push boundaries in order to create better and more extreme music. Bear in mind that by extreme I don't necessarily mean fast and technical, there are many other ways to be extreme.

Can you tell us a little bit about your promo work? What have you done till now to spread the name The Amenta in world`s Metal Scene? Do you think you can get a record deal and what are your favourite labels? Where will you see The Amenta?

Basically The Amenta have been sending our Mcd all around the world so that we can get it reviewed and attract attention. So far the reviews have been excellent with the on complaint that it was two short. But always leave them wanting more as the old stage adage goes. We think that a record deal should be relatively easy to obtain. We believe in our product and we have already been contacted by reputable labels it is merely a matter of finding the right deal.

Are you into CRADLE OF FILTH? Did you hear their new record "Damnation and a Gay"? Cool, fast stuff, huh? I for myself must say I love them. They play in a traditional thrash way, straight forward and fast! I love their cheesy keyboard, uh, I think on the track "Mictlan" is also a keyboard! So you are into C.O.F. right? They influenced you all the time! Hahaha.

Hey! We influenced C.O.F. Our first demo was called "The Principle of Evil Made Toast" and they fucking stole it. But seriously we do appreciate their Misfits metal, silly but as you say fast and straightforward. We actually tried to steer away from that CRADLE gothic keyboard sound. We prefer power electronics and industrial keyboards. Make them sound fucked up like guitars. A lot of the samples and fucked up sounds on the release are actually made with keyboards.

How many gigs did you play since the beginning from "The Amenta" and with whom you've played?

The Amenta do not play gigs! We are way to underground! You're lucky we even released anything! Fuck! Actually we have gigs booked for the end of the year, which will be our first. We decided to concentrate on the musical aspect of the band first in order to perfect that before unleashing the beast on the Australian country music populace.

Any cool stories to tell from playing live? Give us a laughter or a dirty story!

Well as we haven't played live I can't answer that question. However I will tell a joke:
Q. Why didn't Superman rescue the survivors trapped up the top of the World Trade Centre.
A. He's a cripple. Hahahahaha. Amusing.

What can you tell us about Australian girls? Are they shaved? They have teeth in their mouth or do they bite by blow job, like our girls, hahaha.

Australian girls are known to shave their legs. Is that what you are asking? Possibly some shave their backs, or armpits (I once saw a girl with a shaved head!). They actually don't have teeth in their mouths, it's really tic tacs because Australia as a country does not believe in toothpaste, Therefore the blow jobs are quite pleasant as the tic tacs gently massage instead of shred as I imagine the German Girls teeth do.

I have a gay friend Thomas. He does the Necromaniac Mag, also from Germany. He likes the Australian scene more than I. He loves bands like, don't know their fuckin names but, I think it was Vomitor, Destroyer 666, Abominator and pussy stuff like that. I love Mortal Sin since they released "Mayhemic Destruction" or Hobb's Angel of Death and yes, Armoured Angel. They are cool. What do you like from you rotten scene? Do you know some of the mentioned bands? Ah, Thomas is very interested into your gay scene. In Brazil they know him very well too,
hahaha. Now he will rise Australia, hahaha! In Australia is a great Metal scene, right?

Does Thomas like Kylie Minogue? She is our biggest metal export. Most people are only familiar with her pop work but believe me, she's evil. Other than Ms. Minogue, the Australian scene is getting stronger. All your favourite Australian bands have broken up, find some new ones (I suggest The Amenta). Wow that was a long question for a short answer. We would tell you who we like but, as you will say later in this interview, no names, no promotion for anybody.

You have a whole record ready what will be released, right?

Yes, we have a full length that will hopefully be recorded late this year and released early next year. It is pretty fucking good even if we do say so ourselves, very dark and extreme. It will satisfy any one who wants something new that hasn't lost its force through endless repetitions.

Ok, brother from Australia, that`s all. Let`s close this bullshit now. I wish you all the best for the future! Thanx for spending time! I hope it was not too boring, hahaha. Last words are yours and The Amenta`s. SPREAD YOUR WORD!!! Cheers and Blast On!!!
