At first the same boring question everybody does: Tell us about the history about Spawn of Possession. When did you start to play? Line up changes in the whole time?
We started up in 97, myself (Dennis/drums), Bryssling/guitar and Karlsson/guitar! We recorded our first demo "THE FORBIDDEN" in March 2000 as a three piece! After that Dewerud from Visceral Bleeding joined in as bassplayer! Around April 2001 we recorded our second demo "CHURCH OF DEVIANCE" and right after it´s release we got a deal with Unique Leader.

How old are you and what are you doing when you are not playing metal?
We are all around 25 years old! When not playing brutal music we all practise alot on our own! Besides that I study and work, Karlsson works at a slaughterhouse, Dewerud works with cleaning up in houses where dead bodies has been decaying for a while and Bryssling is a Classical guitar student at some university or something!

Wich rotten city spitted you out and why are you playing fast and brutal Death Metal ?
We come from a small town in the south east of Sweden called Kalmar! Not much to say about it really! We have all been into brutal death metal since late eighties / early nineties so when we started to actually play instruments and not only listen to the music, it was death metal all the way for us! We play it because we love it, it´s as simple as that!

What means Death Metal to you?
Energy, Power and heaviness! It´s an artform that still has alot of unexplored territories for us to explore and that´s what makes it so fucking interesting!

My first contact with Spawn of Possession was on a sampler from Mighty Music Mag. I've never heard before about you but that track blows me away. Who had the idea to do that sampler? And didn`t you do interviews in the past?
Michael from Mighty Music asked us if we wanted to be on the sampler and we said yes! We haven't done any interviews for Mighty Music Mag yet as far as I know!

Your Death Metal stile is fast and brutal but in my opinion the leadguitar is very important for your sound, but that's makes Spawn of Possession very unique to other bands. Your guitarists did a great job! I mean you play very often with these stile of lead riffs, not this typical waltz- like riffs, that makes Spawn of Possession so fuckin' unique! Your commend, please!
Thank you very much for those words bro! Yeah well, Bryssling and Karlsson are two really sick guitarists and they enjoy to push them selfs to the outher limits of brutality and speed! They both practice ALOT! I guess we just like to write this way so that the guitar often

dominates the songs!

Where do you see the differences to other Death Metal Bands?
I guess we try to get our own sound and style and not just follow the footsteps of any other band! We don´t want to be a copycat band so to speak! We work really hard to get our own identity, both musically and lyrically!

Who did the great cover from your 2001 "Church of Deviance" demo? It looks really killer.
It was a guy in LA who did it for us, Mike Fisher! He´s a really cool guy and a great artist! Check out he´s web-site for more info: http://www.maximumfluoride.com

The sound is very clear and mindblasting! Where do you did this great production?
We recorded it down at Pama Studios not far from where we live! It´s a top studio with all the accesories a band needs! We wanted our shit clear and heavy and we got it!

Where do you see the differences from your first Demo "The Forbidden" next to "Church of Deviance"
First off Church is way more brutal and heavy both in playing and production! It´s way more technical than the Forbidden cd and I like the sound on it more than the Forbidden! Church is more a big fucking fist in the face while Forbidden is more groove oriented.

Tell us about the reactions about the two demos by press and fans!
Both demos has been getting really good press but it was Church that got us the record deal! Thanx to the demos we have established a reputation in the underground and that has helped us got get in contact with alot of sick people and bands, and that´s very cool!

Next to your lyrics. They sounds very antichristian. Tell us about your lyrics ! Are you into satan, hahaha.
Hahaha... no man, can't say we are. We ain't got time for religions and shit like that, we like to think for ourself! The lyrics is like fiction inspired from horror flicks and shit like that! We try to come up with cool brutal lyrics about dirty demons and shit that works with the music!

How many demos you have selled?
Dunno... somewere between 400 and 800 copies I think!

You got a record deal, right? Tell us about!
We got a deal with Unique Leader Records after they had heard the Church demo. We signed for one album and so far the cooperation has been really great! They take care of the merch as well!

Can you play live as often as you will? Any chance to see you anytime in Germany?
Let me put it this way, we play as often there´s a chance to play ´cause death metal shows is not very common here in Sweden! We will probably do the Gutting Europe III tour in Februray 2003 with Disavowed and some other bands! I think we will hit Germany then so you can see us!

Where do you see the influences in Spawn of Possession and their members? What are you hearing at that point of time?
We all listen to brutal death metal like Monstrosity, Morbid Angel, Suffocation and Death but we also enjoy classical music and old heavy! Bands like Dream Theater and Symphony X is also very inspiring!

Where do you see yourself? As fans or as musicians?
Both!!! We still go to shows and enjoys brutal death bands, old and new ones!

Hey, tell us a little bit about beautiful Swedish chicks!
Hahaha... well I guess most of ém are blond and have perfect tits! You should come down to the Swedish beach summertime and check ém out. I promise your dick will get stiff like a fucking drumstick hahaha!!!

How many songs are ready for a full- length?
Ten songs are ready, five from the demos and five new ones!

Any side projects where you involved? Or do you put all your power in Spawn of Possession?
I'm also in the band VISCERAL BLEEDING where I do the vocals! (www.visceralbleeding.com)

What's up with shirts?
They are coming, we are working on that! Look for it at the Unique Leader site! (www.uniqueleader.com)

Tell us a little bit about the underground scene in Sweden! Any good newcomers that are worth to get in contact with?
I think the underground over here is growing and that´s really good! You should definitely check out bands like Strangulation, Aeon, Butchery,Visceral Bleeding, Obscura and Stabwound to name a few...!

HYPNOSIA splittet up. Do you know why? It's a shame, right? One of the best thrash acts leaves us. R.I.P.
I heard about their break-up, a really bad thing to happen I agree. I really enjoy their stuff, it's perfect to both drink and fuck to! I don't know why they splitted up thou, I'll have to ask Cab or Lenny about it, when I see them next time!

Members from INSISION, IMMERSED IN BLOOD, THRONEAEON or KAAMOS talked in interviews very respectfull about SPAWN OF POSSESSION. Are you in contact with these dead and rotten bodies?
Yes, we are and I love those bands. I had a great drinking session with some of the guys of INSISION at the Gothenborg Deathfest earlier this year by the way (Cheers Rogge)! We know alot of brutal bands here in Sweden!

Why should anybody buy a "Church of Deviance" demo CD?
If you're into brutal as fuck death metal, you should buy it, it will please you all the way! If your not into death metal at all, go find a rope and hang yourself in some cellar or something hahaha!

Any goals with SPAWN OF POSSESSION that you follow?
To become much more brutal and extreme and to release alot of albums and to tour alot! And of course to find a brutal singer!

Ok, my friends from Sweden. That's all from this point of time. Thanx for answering questions and spending time. Greetings to all Spawn of Possession- Members. Last words are your's! Hope to hear from you very soon with a new record. Cheers and raise the dead!
Thanx for this most brutal interview!!! Up to this point only the bass and drums are finished for the album but I can promise you that you will be totally fucking blown away when you get to hear the finished piece! Stay brutal and support the underground! CHEEEERS!!!
