SEPSISM (US)

Hi Fernando, you little hobby-butcher, what's up? Did you already have a arm or a leg for breakfast?
As a matter of fact I did.I also had your entire family for dinner and next I'm going to have your girlfriend for desert.

Please, tell us something about the beginning of SEPSISM! From which fuckin' village you are coming?
We  formed in September of 1990, when we were still in school. We played many shows and released three demos, the third being SEVERE CARNAL BUTCHERY. Sepsism  was influenced by the early DEATHMETAL and GRINDCORE scenes. We are proud to call Pacoima our home, wich is  a city just north of Los Angeles.

I have read on your homepage, that you can't find a bassist. Did you solve this problem?
It's been taken care of. We have a new bass player by the name of  Raffi. He joined in mid 2001. We're also trying out lead guitar players, to once again be a five piece like the S.C.B days and when we first formed.

Your debut "Purulent Decomposition" is already 3 years old. Did Repulse not want to release some new stuff from you? Are there new tunes, which you wrote or recorded after 1998?
We're still signed to Repulse Records. There's just been a lot of setbacks and lagging as well. We have a whole new album ready to be layed down. The first step is to go into the studio. All I can say as always is hopefully soon.

Your sound is quite near to TERRORIZER. Straight, fast, cruel and with some groove parts. Your voice is often very near to Martin van Drunen (ex-PESTILENCE). What do you think about this description? Is it ok?
We've heard some comparisons to TERRORIZER in the past, but never a Martin Van Drunen comparison. We don't agree but, everyone has their opinion and eveyone hears something different. As long as you like our stuff you can compare us to Bon Jovi if you want, hahaha.

I also read on your homepage, that you were 2000 on an European tour?! How were the reactions? Some impressions of Europe? Unfortunately, I didn’t see you on that tour.
All I  can say is that  Europe was fucking great! It was interesting, exciting and a lot of fun. It was an experience  of a liftime. The reactions from the fans  were unbelievable. They had a lot of energy. At times they made us feel like gods. The fans rule! Also Sanatorium and Intervalle bizarre were fucking sick! Great people in thoes bands. We made a lot of friends over there. What's up to all!!!

What's up in the Californian underground? Many great bands?
There is a lot of cool bands out here. Too bad the public is too spoiled with mainstream bullshit! There's too much competition as far as music selection and people  love to choose the weak  shit.

Between 1984 and 1989 there were a unbelievable scene in California with great bands such as HOLY TERROR, HEXX, AGENT STEEL, ABATTOIR, SAVAGE GRACE, EXODUS, DARK ANGEL, ... was that your time? Did you see some gigs of this unique bands? HIRAX is also coming up now again.
We've been into Metal for a long time, unfortunetly when bands like Exodus and Dark Angel were in thier prime we were too young to attend shows.

Now something different: The happenings in NY, which have perhaps also big influence on the living in California. What do you thin about this happenings?
I'm over it, Isn't everyone else?... Not really, that was some crazy shit, I think it just made a lot of people stronger. I  know I'm not going to live my life in fear of the unknown.

Fernando, what will we see in the future from SEPSISM? When will there follow a new album?
Again, hopefully  soon. We have  many plans, they just need to be taken care of. We don't really discuss too much anymore untill we know they are certain.

Why should everyone buy "Purulent Decomposition"?
Why not?

Which records are your favourite ones in the moment?
I always listen to different albums whenever I'm not busy. That never seems to happen though. My life is really becoming musicless, except of course for my own stuff.

OK, that's the end. Thanks goes out to you, my friend. Last words to you! Hope you enjoyed the interview! Cheeerz!
Thanks a  lot, we really appreciate the support. Good luck in the future. Everyone else, get in touch and give us a chance. Check out our  stuff. What's up to all our friends, fans and supporters. YOU ALL RULE!
