The good old (? - Leif) USA spawns out again a couple of true, pretty brutal Death/Grind-Acts these Days. SCREAMING AFTERBIRTH are signed at United Guttral and released the ultra-fast grinding "Puke Pile"-Album. So I certainly use the Chance to ask Kevin about that cool Band. Well, first tell us the History of SCREAMING AFTERBIRTH.

The drummer (Jesse) and I started it out after our last band (Zombification) failed out. Our guitarist was ending up in jail every other week and we missed some shows so Jesse and I keep practicing and Screaming Afterbirth was the result. After a few months a good buddy of mine, Dan, joined on. He was playing in some weak bands and was sick of all the "I've been doing it longer than you so listen to me" attitude that some of the old timers have. So, he joined up with the promise that all we want to do is play some grind, get wasted and play shows... no band drama or bullshit. We had a couple other people join up and leave along the way. There was the 2nd guitarist on the "Puke Pile" CD Jon who we let go after the CD was done. And a bass player, Matt, who we also let go. Now we have the drummer, Jon (#2) from the defunct Splattered Cadaver, playing bass for us. He joined up and we knew he belonged right off the bat, so he is a main stay as long as he wants to. And that brings us to the present.

Which Bands are the prime Influences for you?

As a band I'd say we wanted to go for the Haemorrhage sound and style, although the CD came out a bit different than we expected. We are also influenced by Terrorizer and anything that has the thrashy death sound.

Songtitle as "Stump fucked Piss Flaps", "Open Pussy Surgery", "Mongloid Whore" and of Course the Title Track "Puke Pile" show me, that you are very into bizarre Porn-Lyrics. Is that right?

"Bizarre Porn Lyrics," I guess. We just spat out crazy phrases while partying or practicing and I put some words to them. For me the lyrics mean very little. I never really listened to a death metal band for the lyrics, it was all the music and how deep the vocals were. So, the lyrics will probably remain the same in the future, possibly at bit more offensive. Not so much to women though, just stupid people instead.

On your Website are a few Photos of naked Chicks. Are you big Fans of Porn-Movies?

As the majority of men, we love looking at beautiful women, so I put some on the site. It's a pain in the ass to work on a site, but I will always put new "hot broads" on there to keep people coming back to see what's new on the site. It's a marketing ploy in all reality.

What's your Opinion about today's Gore/Porn-Grind-Acts? Do you like MORTICIAN, EXHUMED, LIVIDITY and Stuff like that?

I enjoy it all. Just like every other genre of music, there's crap and there's the good shit. The for-mentioned bands are all good shit to me (us).

In the Sleeve of the "Puke Pile"-CD SCREAMING AFTERBIRTH is a very anonym Band. No Contact Adress printed. From which Region of the USA are you?

Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. Beer City USA!

Roger from MORTICIAN did the Art Layout for "Puke Pile". Are you satisfied with the Result?

No. He is to busy to devote the proper attention to a bands CD. Take for instance the hundred or so spelling errors, but that is just the way it goes in the "underground." Next time we will do it ourselves.

Rich Lipscomb from FLESHGRIND produced a Lot of cool Bands, also your Album. Are you satisfied with the Result?

Sure, he gets us on some good shows and cuts us deals on his CD's and shirts. We are supposed to get more "perks" on our later releases, so we await that. We would like shirts of our own, hopefully in the future.

What was the best Gig you ever played?

Ah, there has been a lot of good shows. None that I would say blew me away. The Deicide and Vital Remains show was good, also Deeds of Flesh, and well, we played some good basement shows with Oi, punk and death metal bands that were a fucking blast! I think the basement shows produce the craziest situations, so I'm going to say those.

Do you altready write new Material for a next Release?

Yes. We are most of the way done with writing it already. Hopefully, depending on the labels speed, it will be out by the end of the year.

In the first Mail to me you talked about Plans to tour through Europe. Is that true?

Hopefully! That is our goal, to tour through Europe. We are all of European ancestry so we would like to see our "homelands," and to get wasted with a bunch of crazy Europeans!!!!
We'd come over there right now, but I don't think most people have heard of us. That is the purpose of this interview, to get our name out over there.

Would you say there is a Difference between european Death Metal-Festivals and american Festivals? Between the OHIO DEATH FEST and the FUCK THE COMMERCE for Example?

I'm sure there is. I've never been to a European festival but they seem to attract more people than American fests. It is probably because everyone is closer together over there than us Yanks.

What do you think about the Death/Grind-Scene today? Which Bands do you listen to most Time?

I really can't answer that to well. I really don't spend most of my time with the happenings of the death scene. There are bands popping up all the time and everyone of their advertisements say "sickest ever," "brutal as fuck" and shit like that. I don't have time to figure out what's good and what sucks. If one of my mates says "listen to this, this is sick," and like it, I buy it. Most of the time I listen to Sanity's Dawn, Malicious Hate, Last Days of Humanity and too many others to mention. My musical tastes vary from day to day.

What do you think about Multimedia Tracks? Can you imagine to put some Live-Shots of SCREAMING AFTERBIRTH onto the following Release?

We probably will toss on some show and party footage on our next CD. Not too much though, it can be over done. Especially when the footage sucks.

How often do you rehearse with the Band?

Once a week. Sometimes more or less.

Do you listen to Death Metal and Grindcore only or also other Kinds of Music?

I listen to all sorts of shit. I like traditional Irish music, thrash metal, hate core, and a touch of black metal.

What do you think about Black Metal? Just painted Clowns or another great Music-Style for you?

Black metal... The big death - black division. Neither genre of music is truly dedicated to what is sings about. Some black metalers have gone all the way with their beliefs and others like to sing about weak shit. I respect the ones who "live by the sword and die by the sword." I own only a few actual black metal albums. Burzum, Nocturnal Breed, Marduk, and Before God CD's. All these black metal bands are good. So to answer your question, some are painted clowns and others are dedicated to the musical terrorism that their music was intended to be. I prefer the musical terrorist.

A private Question: What do you do the whole Day? Do you have a "normal" Dayjob?

I'm a Union Iron worker. I also will be attending some schooling in the future. I just want to better my knowledge on how to do things. I'm just a normal guy who happens to play in a death metal band. Nothing special here.

Is it an Aim of you to create a special Image for SCREAMING AFTERBIRTH and how important are Images for you in general?

Our image has been tarnished in the past. We just want to play grind core and have people enjoy our music. We all have our own views and are entitled to them. I love the USA and firmly believe in "love it or leave it." When people get off their high horses and talk to us they realize were just some guys who love to party and enjoy life.

Can you give me some Statements to the following Death Metal-Classics:
Deicide "legion"- devastating
Cannibal Corpse "tomb of.." - old school death
Suffocation "Effigy.." - brutal as fuck!
Incantation "onward to." -a top 10 in my book
Broken Hope "bowels of." - sick shit
Sinister "Cross." - punching faces
Napalm Death "Utopia.." - heavy duty
Massacre "From." - classic
Monstrosity "Imperial.." - brutal as fuck
Brutality "Screams." - brutal as fuck

Let's have a Talk about some great Splattermovies, okay? Give me some Statements to following Movies: CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD, THE BEYOND, CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, ZOMBIE HOLOCAUST, ANTHROPOPHAGUS, ABSURD, FRIDAY THE 13TH-Series, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE-Series, HOWLING-Series, ILSA-Series, EVIL DEAD-Series, WIZARD OF GORE, MANIAC, JOHN CARPENTER'S VAMPIRES, FROM DUSK 'TIL DAWN and some german Home Made-Masterpieces like VIOLENT SHIT, ZOMBIE 90, BURNING MOON and BLACK PAST

I haven't seen most of them. Day of the Dead is good, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is the best, Return of the living dead, Dawn of the Dead, are classics. My drummer will wet his pants when he reads this because he probably has an opinion on the whole list you gave me and I don't have any really. Oh well.

Okay, that's all from me. Do you have some last Words to me and the Readers of that Interview?

Be proud of who you are. Work hard and never give up in life. Making the best out of oneself is vital to the future of your family and country. Keep it sick.
