Hey guys! I have to say, that your MCD is totally brilliant! How comes?
Yes we just did the first EP called "Overthrow" and it was released on our own label Anarchos records, and also on Ritual Records (Japan) and Unique Leader (Holland). We are then looking for a label to do our full length releases, the first of which will be done later this year. The process of recording is tedious and boring, its all in the studio and just a matter of laying down instrument by instrument so not much fun there.
What do you think, are the most important differences to DYING FETUS? I think, musically it's very near to their style.
First of all, Dying Fetus helped us a lot because we made many good friends and contacts throughout the years with Dying fetus, good people who we can trust and who are cool enough to help us out as we are trying to make an initial stab at getting our music out in Misery Index. The comparisons have been few, and although I expect them to arise periodically I have much confidence that they will subside as I and Sparky also have a strong songwriting role in the band and we all contribute to the songwriting process much more than we ever did when writing in Dying fetus.
I think, this is the question you will hear everytime: Why do you split up with John and DYING FETUS?
This topic has been covered in numerous interviews in numerous other places. For those who still do not know I will proceed to give the somewhat brief and less detailed versionŠin late 2000 I left Dying Fetus primarily because I had to go back and finish grad school. I was in a particular degree program which allowed only one semester away for sabbatical or whatever, and I took off that Fall 2000 to tour for the release of ³Destroy the Opposition.² In soon became evident that the band wished to tour full time and I was not able to do that, so I spilt on good terms. As for Kevin and Sparky, they were actually dismissed from the band after an internal dispute over business. I and remaining member John, as well as the new members of Dying Fetus, are still friends and as for what happened with him and the other guys I am not exactly sure, and I think there are no hard feelings among anyone, everyone is getting on with their music and doing their own thing.
Do you know the new material of DYING FETUS? I have heard ³Vengeance Unleashed² and it¹s also very great, but not so old DF-like, like you!
Yes I have heard it, and it is awesome, of course as long as John is involved in the band the riffs and brutality will be there, I expect nothing but class A top notch stuff from Dying fetus. They are an awesome band as always!
A little bit irritating is, that Sparky is not named on the MCD, but in the info. Didn¹t he play on the album?
No, actually Sparky joined shortly after the album was recorded, however he will be mentioned and featured in the European release of ³Overthrow² which will be out this summer on Unique Leader Records Europe, with bonus tracks.
The coverversion of TERRORIZER IS SO GOD_LIKE! Why did you take these song and by the way, what do you think about David Vincent?
We chose that song because it is amazing, it has always been my favorite song from ³World Downfall²!
Do you know the material of NAUSEA, where Oscar Garcia played after TERRORIZER?
Yes, awesome as well.
Your MCD is out on Anarchos Records and is distributed in Germany by Morbid Records. Is Anarchos your own label? What¹s up with Blunt Force and where will you release your next recordings?
The primary focus of the band is to get our material done and to secure a label which will be able to help promote and support us to our satisfactionŠAnarchos is an afterthought, however a very serious one, and we intend to keep It going in whatever way we can afford in the near future. We have nothing to do with Blunt Force Records so, I have nothing to say on that.
Are there some tracks already finished? Will these songs be in the same style as on the MCD?
Yes we just finished 3 new songs for a split ep with Commit Suicide on Willowtip Records. That should be out this summer so look for that in your import bin!
Mike made the whole design of the CD. Did he also make designs for other bands?
Yes he is a very prolific graphic artist who has done the past Dying Fetus album covers as well as work for Averse Sefira, Pessimist, and others.
For what stands the artwork?
Not much other than we think it looks cool.
I know, that you are politically interested. I have heard, that there are some people in the US-DM scene, who are stupid nazi-fuckers. Is it right or only bad rumours?
Well if they are they are in the minority, and nothing threatening. I myself am active in life-politics, I try to stay informed and involved in the activities of those who question the status quo.
What do you think, about guys like Billy Milano?
For me I think he has a great voice and writes some good riffs.
